The Joys of Two Boys!

After a whirlwind month of October it seems as though things are slightly settling down around here. Gus and I are loving our boys more and more each day! They are seriously such a joy and blessing. I have found that having 2 kids is not necessarily hard, but it seems almost impossible to get anything done! Just keeping the kids, dishes and clothes clean seems to fill my days. As a matter of fact I have loads of things to do right now, so this will be short and sweet. I do have time to add some pics though.

Thank you Lord! How could I ask for more!

Micah is not feeling the love!

Elias as "black Spiderman".

I finally caught one of Micah's rare smiles on camera!

We visited the pumpkin patch!

This is how Micah spent most of the afternoon. I love this wrap! I can carry him around and still have use of both of my hands. Plus I can carry him for hours and my back does not hurt!

Elias loved the pumpkins!

Micah was SO not impressed with the pumpkins.

This is not from the pumpkin patch, but it is too cute! He has the best cheeks. They just attract kisses!

Sweet smile!

Sleeping Arrangements

It is funny how the first thing people ask you when you have a newborn baby is "Does he sleep good" or "Are you getting any sleep?". I usually answer these types of questions with "He sleeps like a baby. He is up every 2-4 hours to eat." The truth is that Gus and I go into "survival mode" during the first few weeks of our boys' lives. That means that we do whatever it takes for us all to get as much sleep as possible. Thankfully I have an AMAZING husband that is willing to help me with this. Right now our sleeping arrangements start the night with Micah and Gus sleeping in the guest bed and me in our bed. (By the way, some think it really "bad" or "strange" that we allow the baby to sleep with us, but did you realize that ALL other mammals sleep with their newborn young?) Gus brings the baby to me when he needs to be fed, which usually falls anywhere between 1am-3am. I nurse, change, and get him back to sleep and take him back to Gus. Micah will wake up to eat again about 2-3 hours later. After this feeding, I will sometimes take him back to Gus or just keep him with me. Also somewhere in the 2am-3am range Elias will wake up and come to my room. I then have to take him and lay in his bed with him for about 10 minutes. Overall I get at least 5-6 broken hours of sleep a night, but I honestly feel pretty good most mornings. These arrangements may seem strange, but it is the way that allows us all to get the best sleep possible with a newborn and 3 year old that STILL does not sleep through the night. In a week or two we hopefully will start transitioning Micah to sleep in the bassinet beside our bed. I hope it works and Gus and I can start sleeping in the same bed again!

On another funny note. Elias told me the other day "You are such a nerd!" He told me that he learned that from watching Spiderman with Uncle Javi. According to Elias, Mary Jane says it to Peter Parker. I probably should not have laughed as hard as I did!

Funny Stuff

I forgot to share a funny story from the weekend. Gus went out on a canoe on the Stone's River with his brother Javi and Elias on Saturday. He said everything was going great until they began to hear a little rumble that sounded like a small rapid was up ahead. Sure enough there was one and they were headed towards it. As they got closer it made Elias and Javi really nervous and Elias screamed out "We are going to die!!" Needless to say, they made it safely down the river, and Elias is ready to go out on the boat again.

3 Years Old!

Elias turned 3 years old today! The last few months he has really turned into a "big kid" as compared to a toddler. I love how funny, smart, and observant he is. That kid never ceases to say the funniest things! He has done so well in adjusting to having a new brother. God has blessed our lives with our sweet Elias.

Week One

Micah is 1 week old today. Things have been going very well. So far he is a very relaxed baby. As long as he is full, he is happy. Elias has done well, too. There have been a few times where he has had a few major meltdown tantrums, but we pretty much expected that he would react in some way.
It is amazing how much EASIER it is to be the mom of a newborn the second time around. The whole time I was pregnant with Micah I would always think of how I felt a little sorry for him that he would not get as much attention as Elias did. There is just no way that we (or anyone else) will be able to give Micah as much one on one attention as we gave Elias. That thought always made me a little sad. However, now after week one I actually feel a little sorry for Elias. As a newborn he got the crazy paranoid, stressed, over-reactive, clueless, thought she was going to kill him or scar him for life over every little decision mom. Micah, on the other hand, gets the relaxed, calmer, more self assured (though not an expert) mom. My calmer mood has made such a difference this time around. Being the mommy of a newborn is actually pretty easy. Being the mommy of a 3 year old is what is hard!

Family of Four

Micah Thomas is here! He was born at 4:02 PM on Tuesday, September 22 weighing (a surprisingly big) 8.3 pounds and 20 inches long. He is our chunky little cutie pie.
Labor went incredibly smooth, thanks to an epidural that worked. I cannot believe the difference a working epidural made. With Elias the epi failed completely and I felt everything the entire 9 hours of labor. With Micah I was able to sleep (I was shocked that I could SLEEP during labor!) and relax. Labor was about 7 hours, but I pushed him out in only 4 or 5 contractions.
Elias is IN LOVE with his baby brother and constantly wants to shower him with hugs and kisses. Actually we all love to shower him with lots of hugs and kisses. He is such a cuddly baby. We are incredibly thankful and blessed for our two healthy boys!

Proud daddy!

Mommy and her boys. I look really tired here!

The night Elias met his baby brother. He was very upset that Micah had to stay in the hospital.

He came out ready to eat! I am waiting to download my better pictures.

Pictures

Since I am seriously slacking in the blogging world, I will post a few pics to help make up for it. These are from our trip to Texas

Elias with my niece, Alexus, and nephew, Isaiah.

Elias reading with Nana.

He did A LOT of swinging in Nana's yard.

Elias with his cousins Darion, Isaiah, and Alexus(my niece and nephews). Unfortunately we are missing Zackary in this picture. He was busy kicking butt at a baseball tournament.

Here is Elias and Gus when they were reunited after 3 weeks apart. I honestly think that is the biggest smile I have ever seen on Elias!

Still Here

We are all still here but have been going non-stop since getting home from Texas. I refuse to slow down yet. Micah is due September 29, and I plan on going at this current crazy pace until September 1st. At that time I will allow myself some slack such as taking naps and not going to the gym. Hopefully my body will abide with my request. Until then I will probably continue to be a major blog slacker. There just is not enough time between being a wife, mom to a 2 year old, preparing for a new baby, and doing some part time work from home!

The Lone Star State

We made it! Elias was literally perfect on the flight, and I received many compliments about him from others on the plane with us. Once again I was praising God that I was not "the mother with the screaming kid on the plane". Thank you, Lord! We have been having a blast here with the family. At the airport when Elias saw my mom, his nana, he had a huge smile and ran right to her arms. He has been very sweet to all of his grandparents and is especially fond of his 14 year old cousin Alexus. She has entertained him most days which has allowed me to rest and relax. It has been wonderful! I cannot believe my little niece will start high school in a few months! She is growing up so fast. We are expecting more weeks fun, but we REALLY miss Gus. Elias asks about Daddy everyday, but he is honestly too busy and entertained to dwell on that thought too long.
Tonight Elias is staying with Gus' mom. I must say that I am enjoying the down time. It has been a great trip so far!

Lizard Boy

Gus fixed Elias' hair into a bit of a mohawk today. His hair has really grown and is so curly. I love it! After Gus was done, Elias looked in the mirror and said, "I wook wike a wizard" (which translates to "I look like a lizard"). Needless to say, the mohawk was a big hit!

Leaving Soon

Things have been hectic around here since I am trying to prepare for Elias and I to leave for Texas soon. We will be gone for 3 weeks! I am excited, but nervous, especially about being away from Gus for so long. We met almost 12 years ago (dated 6 years and have been married almost 6) and it is still so hard to be away from him! I guess that is a good sign. After 12 years I am not tired of being around him and it is still so painful to be apart! Last night I asked him if he would miss me, and he said, "Of course I will miss you. You are my best friend." How sweet! I sure do love that guy! Well, I better get back to packing.

Thanks Mom!

Since it is Mother's Day I wanted to take the time to thank my mom for all that she has done and still does.
Thanks mom! You are truly wonderful. I am so thankful to have you in my life (and my children's lives). You gave up many years (at least 20 or 21 years I think) to stay home with all four of us. Thank you so much! I always remember you being a joyful presence in our home. I only hope that my boys will remember me the same way (although anyone who knows us both is aware that I am MUCH moodier than you!). Your love for the Lord and your love for your family has and does shine through. Thank you for always supporting me and being a wonderful example of a true mother. I can't wait to see you in a few weeks!

So Much to Do!

Since finding out that we are having a boy the nesting instinct has already started kicking in! I am completely motivated to start getting Micah's room ready and the house situated to welcome a new baby. Part of my motivation is also due to the fact that Elias and I will be gone to Texas for 3 weeks in June. I am SO excited to see our family, but I know it will be torture for Elias and I to be away from Gus (and vice versa). We will just have to fill our time there with fun activities with the family.
Today I have already started preparing for our sweet Micah by:
-Starting to clean out his room which is now our guest room/office. I will be having a HUGE garage sell very soon.
-I found a few paint colors that I like. Gus has promised to paint the room while I am gone. Elias' room is blue so we are going with an olive green color for Micah.
-Elias and I found some great things for Micah's room at Hobby Lobby. It was all on sale so I got $50 worth of wall decorations for only $25! They are so cute! Micah will get all of Elias' baby furniture and bedding, but I want his room to look somewhat different with new decorations and paint.
-I even cleaned out my closet and managed to part with a few pairs of shoes that I haven't worn in years. (Why do I find it so hard to get rid of shoes?).

That is pretty good progress for one day! I am itching to get all of Elias' old clothes out of the attic, but Micah's closet and room needs a little more clearing up. I guess that can wait for another day.

Now to change the subject. I haven't updated lately about Elias' potty training progress. Well the kid has been 100% potty trained since about day 2 when it comes to peeing. This past week he even woke up most mornings with his diaper completely dry! We have still been putting a diaper on him because night training is not something we have focused on. It looks like he will have that down very soon. However, I must admit that pooping is not going quite as well. He only poops on the potty about once a week. He just HATES to do it on the potty. We have tried a couple of things, but nothing is working. We are not really pushing him (yet) because I know that it takes time. I am hoping that in a few more weeks he will figure out that pooping on the potty is much better than going in his underwear!

The Results Are In

Today was the big day. We found out (for sure) that we are indeed having a PERFECTLY HEALTHY baby BOY! I am so relieved to know for sure. Now I can proceed with planning and nesting. We are (of course) extremely excited about this new little boy. Being in a house filled with boys is nothing new to me. I grew up with 3 brothers, and quickly learned that there are great advantages to being the only girl. I have always thought I would have a couple of boys of my own! We are thankful and proud to announce that Micah Thomas Garcia is due to arrive around September 29! Now I must go pick out paint for his room.

Must! Wear! Maternity! Pants!

It's been awhile, so this could be long!
Here I am almost 19 weeks pregnant, and I have held onto my regular pants for as long as I comfortably could, but the time has come to resign some of them to the closet for a few (hopefully only a few) months. I can still wear most of my jeans due to a great little product I found at Target called the Bee Band. However even with this great little invention I feel as if I am suffocating my child every time I sit down!
At first I thought this pregnancy was EXACTLY like my last one, but it is turning out to be quite different. I am STILL throwing up a few times a week and feeling rather nauseous in the mornings. Last time I was over that phase by 12 weeks. I am also already feeling VERY uncomfortable and not sleeping well. Gus has even been sleeping in the guest room some nights because I move around so much and use so many pillows. (Don't worry, this is only so we can both sleep better. I am still head-over-heels in love with him, but we need good sleep.) With my first pregnancy I did not mind the way my body expanded and changed. I actually thought I looked pretty cute with my basketball belly. This time I feel HUGE and really don't like the way I look or the way any clothes look on me.
However, despite all of these complaints Gus and I already adore this little baby and can't wait to meet him. Sometimes I get wary in my discomfort and sickness and then I feel a little kick or movement and all the complaints are replaced with joy. It is so amazing how those little movements take me by surprise and get my attention every time. I do truly LOVE that part. Thankfully I am starting to feel them more each day. I can't wait until Gus and Elias can feel the baby move. On Wednesday we will have another ultrasound to confirm our suspicions that this is a little boy. We already call him by name and Elias tells everyone that he is having a "baby brudda".
To wrap things up I can only say that God is good and He has blessed me immensely! My husband is amazing (I could seriously go on with a total mushy, gushy post on this point alone.), Elias is such a joy, and this baby is a great unexpected blessing!

Easter!

Matthew 28
The Resurrection
1After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

2There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

5The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

8So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

We serve a risen Savior! He has blessed us with his love, mercy, grace, and this adorable little man!

God is so good!

Way WAY Too Close!

I officially survived the scariest moment of my life! Here is the whole terrifying story.

We spent the morning running errands so we never listened to the weather reports coming in. We left WalMart and Gus decided that he needed to go out to the new church property to check on something. It is only about 1.5 miles from our house so headed down Hwy 96. As we approach the property I see a cloud that looks pretty dark and is really low to the ground. It is partially hidden behind a huge hill so I can't see the whole thing. I say to Gus, "That cloud looks really low. You should hurry up so we can get home. I don't like the way that looks." We get to the property and Gus spends about 4-5 minutes moving some things around. He jumps back in the car and we head home. As we get back on Hwy 96 to head home Gus looks in the rear view mirror and I see a funny look come over his face. He tells me, "Don't look back there". Of course I look back and then I see it. A swirling, twisting tornado is LITERALLY less than a mile behind us! I begin to panic and yell for him to hurry and get us home. We had to make a quick decision to pull over or keep going and get home. Gus decided to just go home since we were close and honestly I just wanted to get Elias inside. The whole way he kept checking behind us and telling me, "DON'T look back!" I actually had no desire whatsoever to look what was coming towards us, so I did not look. (He later told me it actually got even closer to us.) We made it home and rushed into our master bathroom (it has no windows or exterior walls) with our pillows and blankets (just in case we needed to cover our heads). Within minutes the power went out. We stayed there about 30 minutes until we were sure it had passed us. Thankfully our neighborhood did not get any damage. However only about 1 mile away houses were completely destroyed. Had the twister changed its course only SLIGHTLY we would have been directly in its path. Sadly over 100 houses were damaged in Murfreesboro today and many were people injured. It has been an incredibly terrifying day, but we are so thankful to all be safe. Gus has been at the church all afternoon helping to coordinate relief efforts and will be doing the same tomorrow. A neighborhood very near the church was completely wiped out. That is also where the 2 fatalities occurred.
I cannot believe that we came face to face with a tornado today!

Baby update!

I FINALLY had my first appointment today with my OB. It went even better than I ever expected. After checking me out she told me that I was either farther along than I thought or there was more than 1 baby in there! That meant that she got me in for an unexpected ultrasound. Thankfully the ultrasound tech quickly let me know that there was only 1 sweet baby in there. Whew! That was a huge relief! Of course the best news of all is that according to all they can see and measure Baby Garcia is perfect. However, I am a little farther along than previously thought. She moved my due date from Oct 10 to Sept 29. That means I just lost 1.5 weeks of my pregnancy and am already in the 2nd trimester. We also got to try to peek at the gender. The tech thinks it is a BOY! We did not get a great shot of those parts, but she thinks she saw something. We will go back in 4 weeks to confirm with another ultrasound. I love the thought of having another boy! I can't wait to get out all of Elias' old clothes and get them ready for his little brother. What an exciting day!

The Love of Money

To understand the recent conversation between Gus and Elias you need to know a few things.
1. Elias loves money! He will pick up each and every coin he sees. One of his favorite activities is to dump out some of the coins in his piggy bank and then put them back one by one!
2. Elias loves Chuck E. Cheese. What kid doesn't? Our local Chuck E Cheese happens to be located in the mall, so when he requests to go to the mall we know that he really wants to visit the Cheese.

Here is how the conversation went:
Gus: Bye, Elias. Daddy has to go to work.
Elias: No! Daddy stay here!
Gus: Elias I have to go to work.
Elias: No! Daddy stay here.
Gus: I have to go to work to get money.
Elias: Monies? Go to work and get monies?
Gus: Yes, I go to work and get monies.
Elias: Then go to mall? Bye, Daddy! You go to work!!

He was willing to let Daddy go to work if it meant he got money to go to Chuck E. Cheese.
Things are still going very well on the potty training front. We have had no pee accidents all week. He is getting to be a pro at telling us when he has to go. However, we are experiencing difficulty with going #2 on the potty. It is a hit or miss deal (literally!). Many other moms have told me that this is not uncommon. I just don't know how to get him to poop on the potty. He knows when he has to go, but just doesn't make it or something most of the time. Any suggestions?
I am however so thankful at how easy this whole process has been!

Another Potty Training Post

I'm sure some are really bored reading these posts, but I am doing it mainly for my own records. I will probably be going through this same process with baby #2 in about 3 years!
Yesterday (day 3) was great! We spent most of the day at church, and he never had an accident there. We were only home about 4 hours the entire day and he napped for 3 of those. He actually did not even have an accident during his nap. It was amazing! However, late that night we were at Chili's and did not remember to take him to the potty. He had a little accident, but I really blame that one on us!

Today (day 4) was also great. We were out and about running errands and again he did not have any problems. He even stayed dry during his nap. Early in the afternoon I was putting away the groceries and he was in the backyard playing. All of a sudden he came running inside saying "I have to poopoo in the potty!" He sat down and did just that! I swear it brought tears to my eyes. The fact that he stopped what he was doing (actually being outside is his absolute favorite activity) and came in to potty was truly inspiring! I am so proud of that kiddo! We made it through the day with only one accident.

I will end things with something a little more interesting. Elias has a new best friend. He carries this squishy, green snake around EVERYWHERE he goes. He even sleeps with it! It's name is Snakey, and he is Elias' constant companion. I find it slightly disturbing that my child finds comfort from a snake, but I guess such is the life of a mom of a little boy! Here is a cute pic of Elias and Snakey.

Potty Training: Day 2

Today was another good day for Elias! Again he had 2 accidents (1 #1 and 1 #2), but there was still some good accomplishments. First of all he actually wore underwear/pants today. Yesterday we kept the undies off and let him run around naked because every time we put them on he would pee in them. However, today he did much better. Sometimes he would go when we made him sit on the potty and other times he would let us know that he needed to go. I was really impressed with one situation that happened today. He came running to me saying that he had peed on Buzz (he had Buzz Lightyear undies on). I hurried and sat him on the potty and prepared to clean up a wet mess. Instead I found that he had only peed a few drops and had realized what he was doing. He was able to finish on the potty! He even went #2 later on in the night. Things are going well, but tomorrow will be a test. We are going to take him to church without using a diaper. I have 2 changes of clothes ready just in case, and I will actually be in the nursery with him during 2nd service. We will see how it goes.

He did learn a new line today that he repeated often. He is really reluctant to poop on the potty so he basically "held" it in all day. This resulted in the release of a lot of gas! Every time I would hear a little toot from him I would ask him, "Elias, do you need to poopoo on the potty?". Every time he would answer (with way too much attitude that resembled a teenager) "No mom. I just farted!" I swear he rolled his eyes at me when he said that!

Potty Training: Day 1

We decided to start potty training boot camp today. I am excited to say that it went rather well. Elias peed in the potty about 4 times and had 2 accidents. Not bad! After the first time he actually went on the potty and received his reward of a few M&M's he was hooked. I swear he can pee on command. Basically every time he sat on the potty he could squeeze out at least a few drops. Then he would dance around and sing, "M&M's! M&M's!". It was pretty cute. By the evening he was telling US when he needed to go. Overall I think it went well. Hopefully tomorrow will be even better!

I am still feeling nauseous all day, but it is getting worse at night. At this very moment I am afraid to go brush my teeth because I am pretty sure it will make me puke. With Elias I was over the nausea by 12 weeks. If this pregnancy goes the same way I should only have about 1 more week of this miserable feeling!

Little Comedian

Elias has really started to crack us up with some of his newest sayings. Here are a few of his most used lines:
"That is dangerous. You cannot play with it." (He then takes said object and puts it out of my reach.)

"I will be riiiiiiiiiiiiight back!"

"There is no poopoo in there!"

"My tummy hurts. Ask Jesus to make it better."

When Elias prays you have to repeat everything he says. Here is his prayer from last night:
Elias: "Thank you God for my daddy."
Me: "Thank you for my daddy."
Elias: "For mommy"
Me: "For mommy"
Elias: "For my booger on the wall."
Me: "For my....what? Booger on the wall."
Elias: "Yes, booger on the wall."
He then points to the wall right beside him and sure enough there is a huge, dried booger on the wall! Apparently he had needed a place to dispose of it. It was like trying to scrape green glue off the wall.

I will not quote what he said the other day when we were at Chili's with Danie. Let's just say that it is not a good idea to teach a 2 year old the correct names for male/female anatomy. (You would think I would have thought of this, but we had to tell him something when he asked!) He has not learned when to use discretion and what is appropriate "dinner talk".

I also added a name poll to this page. Help us decide on a name for this next little one!

The Name Game Revisited

Basically we are scratching the previous boy names from the list (Noah and Malachi). We just don't think they equal the "greatness" of the name Elias. We love our son's name and think it is unique, strong, and simply beautiful. If we have another boy then his name will have to be just as great. We are searching for more options, but for now we like the name Micah (meaning: Who is like God?). Any other suggestions?

The Name Game

We have started thinking about names for this next baby. The first name has to not only be something that we like, but it must have a good strong meaning. We basically have 2 girl names and 2 boy names that we like. However, the middle names are decided and non-negotiable. Middle names are just as important as the first name. We have chosen (okay, so really me, but only because Gus really does not have a strong opinion on the subject) that the middle names will be family names that have personal significance. Since our children will carry the Garcia name from their father, I think they should carry their middle name from my family. Elias' middle name is Glynn. This is the name of my grandpa and my dad's middle name. They have been 2 of the most important men in my life so I always wanted Elias to be named after them.

Now on to baby #2. If it is a boy his middle name will be Thomas. This was the name of my mom's grandpa, who we called Grandaddy. He was definitely the most important man in her life growing up. He was a man who loved God, his family, and his dogs! One of the characteristics I remember most about him is that he was so kind and gentle. I would love to give this middle name to our next son!

If it is a girl her middle name will be Marie. Although this sounds like a "generic" middle name it actually is a family name that goes back a few generations. This is the middle name of my great grandmother, my mother, myself, and my niece.

So here are the names we really love:
-Malachi Thomas Garcia (Love this name, but not sure how it sounds with Thomas. Malachi means "My Messenger".)
-Noah Thomas Garcia (Love this name too, but it may be too "common" compared to the name Elias. It means "peaceful, restful".)

Audrianna Marie Garcia (This is what we would have named Elias if he had been a girl. We would probably call her Audri. Audri means "noble strength" and Anna means "grace, favor".)
Gabriella Marie Garcia (We would NOT call her Gabby, but possibly Ella. It may be too popular considering High School Musical character. It means "God is my strength".)

Nightmares

Elias has started having nightmares. It is so sad! A few weeks ago I heard him running full speed toward our room in the middle of the night. He was screaming and crying. I jumped out of bed and caught him as he flung our door open, and he just clinged to me. Gus and I BOTH ended up laying with him in his little twin bed until he fell asleep. He mentioned something about "being stuck".

A few nights later I heard him running and crying again. This time when I caught him he started screaming "My chocolate. My candy!" He quickly went back to sleep so I did not ask him any questions. The next morning I asked what happened to the candy in his dream. He looked at me and his eyes turned very sad and he said, "That boy take it. He take my chocolate!" I could not help but laugh (although I tried to hide my amusement from him). He was SO broken up about it. So there you go: the nightmare of a 2 year old involves someone stealing his candy!

In pregnancy news I feel absolutely awful. The puking and constant nausea is getting seriously annoying. This baby is also unhappy about my calorie consumption. This kid wants me to eat more! I am literally hungry ALL the time. This is also due to the fact that the thought of food makes me want to throw up. I am so ready for the 2nd trimester and I can eat and feel normal again. Thankfully I have a wonderful husband who is doing so much to help me. I cannot imagine how difficult (impossible really) it would be to make it through this without him.

This makes me feel better!

I was looking over last night's post and realized it was littered with lots of complaining. Although I believe that pregnant women can complain as much as they want, I still thought I should list some great things that happened this week.
-Yesterday I came home from work and my hubby had cleaned the entire house! The bathroom had been scrubbed, carpets vacuumed, toys put away, and even the dishes were washed! It was the best Valentine's present ever. I actually cried when I walked in the house.
-I found some INCREDIBLE deals this week. First I found this stroller
on sale for $89! It is a Sit and Stand Stroller that has a little bench seat for Elias and of course the typical stroller seat for the baby. Elias loves it and will even tell you which seat is for baby brother/sister.
-The other day we went to Stride Rite and found some cute shoes for Elias for only $16!!! If you know Stride Rite shoes than you know how incredible of a deal this is. This brand of shoes usually sells from $30-$50 bucks per pair. Unfortunately I am very familiar with their shoes because they are literally the ONLY brand that fit my little man's fat, roly poly feet. The sales people in the store always comment that he has "pillow feet". Sounds cute, but it ends up costing a lot to get shoes to fit him. Needless to say I was thrilled to find a perfect pair (in size 7 extra wide) for such a great price. I also found a pair of dressier shoes that actually fit him at Target. I got 2 pair of shoes for about $30. Considering we usually have to spend $30-$50 per pair this was truly a blessing!
-I found a new website that is now one of my favorites. I found out about the stroller on babycheapskate.com. This site lists all the current baby deals and sales going on and is updated almost daily. I also love mamabargains.com. They have some great deals on super cute stuff too.

It was a week of frugal finds and sweet gestures by my husband!

It's all coming back to me.

So far this pregnancy seems to be going exactly like my first one. I am feeling nauseated ALL day long. There is a constant feeling that I need to puke, although I have only done so twice. The torturous part of the whole thing is that I feel hungry ALL the time as well! So basically I feel like I'm starving all day and night, but the very thought of food makes me sick to my stomach. Sounds fun, huh? However, I must say that I know that if I didn't not feel ANYTHING then I would be worrying. This sick feeling is a small reassurance that my body is being taken over by a tiny human. It amazes me how instantly you love and are protective of a baby that you have not even met. This pregnancy was a big surprise, but we are already so in love with this little person, and can't wait to meet him/her.
There is one more thing that this pregnancy has in common with the first one. As I was looking through Elias' baby book I realized that we found out we were pregnant with him on February 2, 2006. We found out we were pregnant with this baby on February 2, 2009! That is too funny! My poor kids are probably going to have their birthdays in the same week, if not the same day.

Funny, very funny!

Before you read this post, be sure to read my previous one. It will help you see the humor in this one.

Surprise! Surprise! I am pregnant! So it looks like we are having another baby. We are shocked, but it is a great surprise. Although this means I will be a REALLY pregnant bridesmaid in Erika and Javi's wedding. (By REALLY pregnant I mean the wedding will take place like 4 weeks before my due date.) It also seems that the due date of this baby will be the exact same due date that Elias had, which should be around October 8th or 9th. The good news in that is that if it is a boy we literally have everything we need except a carseat and diapers! Of course a girl would be good news too. That would just mean I have to do a lot more shopping.
This is really shocking to me because I thrive on having everything perfectly planned. I do not do well with surprises. I'm sure it will prove to be a learning experience for me.

On a cute note, I asked Elias if he was ready to be a big brother and he said "I want a sister". I'm trying to find my "instinct" on what this baby is, but not quite sure yet. Although, Gus and I truly do not care about the sex of the little one. Just want a healthy baby!
