This makes me feel better!

I was looking over last night's post and realized it was littered with lots of complaining. Although I believe that pregnant women can complain as much as they want, I still thought I should list some great things that happened this week.
-Yesterday I came home from work and my hubby had cleaned the entire house! The bathroom had been scrubbed, carpets vacuumed, toys put away, and even the dishes were washed! It was the best Valentine's present ever. I actually cried when I walked in the house.
-I found some INCREDIBLE deals this week. First I found this stroller
on sale for $89! It is a Sit and Stand Stroller that has a little bench seat for Elias and of course the typical stroller seat for the baby. Elias loves it and will even tell you which seat is for baby brother/sister.
-The other day we went to Stride Rite and found some cute shoes for Elias for only $16!!! If you know Stride Rite shoes than you know how incredible of a deal this is. This brand of shoes usually sells from $30-$50 bucks per pair. Unfortunately I am very familiar with their shoes because they are literally the ONLY brand that fit my little man's fat, roly poly feet. The sales people in the store always comment that he has "pillow feet". Sounds cute, but it ends up costing a lot to get shoes to fit him. Needless to say I was thrilled to find a perfect pair (in size 7 extra wide) for such a great price. I also found a pair of dressier shoes that actually fit him at Target. I got 2 pair of shoes for about $30. Considering we usually have to spend $30-$50 per pair this was truly a blessing!
-I found a new website that is now one of my favorites. I found out about the stroller on babycheapskate.com. This site lists all the current baby deals and sales going on and is updated almost daily. I also love mamabargains.com. They have some great deals on super cute stuff too.

It was a week of frugal finds and sweet gestures by my husband!

It's all coming back to me.

So far this pregnancy seems to be going exactly like my first one. I am feeling nauseated ALL day long. There is a constant feeling that I need to puke, although I have only done so twice. The torturous part of the whole thing is that I feel hungry ALL the time as well! So basically I feel like I'm starving all day and night, but the very thought of food makes me sick to my stomach. Sounds fun, huh? However, I must say that I know that if I didn't not feel ANYTHING then I would be worrying. This sick feeling is a small reassurance that my body is being taken over by a tiny human. It amazes me how instantly you love and are protective of a baby that you have not even met. This pregnancy was a big surprise, but we are already so in love with this little person, and can't wait to meet him/her.
There is one more thing that this pregnancy has in common with the first one. As I was looking through Elias' baby book I realized that we found out we were pregnant with him on February 2, 2006. We found out we were pregnant with this baby on February 2, 2009! That is too funny! My poor kids are probably going to have their birthdays in the same week, if not the same day.

Funny, very funny!

Before you read this post, be sure to read my previous one. It will help you see the humor in this one.

Surprise! Surprise! I am pregnant! So it looks like we are having another baby. We are shocked, but it is a great surprise. Although this means I will be a REALLY pregnant bridesmaid in Erika and Javi's wedding. (By REALLY pregnant I mean the wedding will take place like 4 weeks before my due date.) It also seems that the due date of this baby will be the exact same due date that Elias had, which should be around October 8th or 9th. The good news in that is that if it is a boy we literally have everything we need except a carseat and diapers! Of course a girl would be good news too. That would just mean I have to do a lot more shopping.
This is really shocking to me because I thrive on having everything perfectly planned. I do not do well with surprises. I'm sure it will prove to be a learning experience for me.

On a cute note, I asked Elias if he was ready to be a big brother and he said "I want a sister". I'm trying to find my "instinct" on what this baby is, but not quite sure yet. Although, Gus and I truly do not care about the sex of the little one. Just want a healthy baby!

An Emotional Weekend

It was a wonderful Christmas and an exciting and emotional weekend. Friday we learned that there would be a new addition to the Garcia family. No, I am not pregnant! Whew, a sigh of relief. Gus' brother, Javier proposed to his girlfriend Erika. We were all there along with all of her family. It was beautiful and sweet, and we are all so excited about the upcoming wedding and marriage. We all love Erika so much! She is a perfect fit for Javi and for our family.

We started today at 6 am by saying goodbye to all of the family that has been here all week. We all had such a great time together. There were difficult moments, but considering that we had 6 adults and 2 babies all staying in a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house, I would say that the week went very well. It was so sad to see them go.

The rest of our day was spent transforming Elias' room into a "big boy" room. The crib and dresser/changing table is gone, and a new twin bed and big dresser is in its place. I did not think that I would get emotional with this change, but it brought to light the realization that Elias is officially not a baby anymore. I am usually not sad to think about this. I don't typically lament over my child growing and maturing, but today I shed a few tears. However at the end of the day I am truly joyful. I am blessed and grateful to have the family I have, including my in-laws. I literally have no in-law horror stories. They are wonderful! I am joyful for the privilege to watch my son grow and to help him become the man (and ultimately man of God) that he is called to be. I am so blessed to share this journey with my husband.

Now to share some pics of the Garcia clan.

The future Mr. and Mrs. Garcia

The whole family.
(My smile is kinda weird because I am saying "M&M". The only way to get Elias to cooperate was to bribe him with candy.)

Rejection

I was completely rejected by Elias tonight. Gus ALWAYS puts Elias to bed. They have a very specific routine of bath, brushing teeth, reading the Bible, praying, telling a story about "a little boy named Elias", rocking and finally, put to bed. Gus asked me to take over tonight after the bath, and I attempted to do so. He would NOT let me brush his teeth and screamed through the entire Bible story. Daddy finally came and rescued him and he instantly stopped crying. Rejection is usually tough, but I love the fact that my son and husband have such a great bond. Of course this behavior is also due to the fact that I have programmed my son to find comfort and security in routine. He loves having the same routine at night. I love my boys!

*Update*
Apparently throwing Elias off of his routine was a bad idea. He is refusing to go to sleep and is having one of the worst fits of screaming and crying we have ever heard. Gus and I are rotating turns to try to get him to calm down and sleep.

Thankful

Psalm 106:1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.

I am thankful each and every day for a God who loves me, the opportunity to serve Him, and the blessings He has given me. All I am (at least the good parts) and all I have I owe to my God and Savior.
